ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
• A doctoral degree in the field of Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in conducting experimental research on microalgal cultivation and nutrient removal from digestates/wastewater streams, including isolation and screening of strains for growth performance and stress tolerance; designing and executing batch and semi-continuous studies; and evaluating treatment performance, biomass productivity, and operational stability.
• Hands-on experience in operating and optimizing laboratory-scale and semi-continuous photobioreactors (e.g. light/photoperiod, aeration, dilution rate, OLR), routine process monitoring (optical density, cell counts, chlorophyll, nutrient and organic matter concentrations), biomass harvesting, biochemical/elemental characterization, and GC/HPLC-based analysis of high-value compounds.
• Demonstrated openness and willingness to acquire new knowledge related to the research project
• Proven scientific achievements, with at least three publications in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Web of Science database.
• Participation in national and international scientific conferences.
SCOPE OF WORK:
• Isolate, cultivate, and screen microalgal strains for growth performance, tolerance, and nutrient removal from digestates.
• Operate and optimize laboratory-scale photobioreactors by controlling light, aeration, dilution ratio, and organic loading rate.
• Scale up the process to semicontinuous photobioreactors and evaluate long-term stability and treatment efficiency.
• Harvest microalgal biomass and perform biochemical and elemental analyses.
• Extract and characterize high-value bioactive compounds using advanced analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, etc).
• Wastewater monitoring with the project partners and the full process assessment of the systems developed in the project

We have an internal procedure for reporting violations of the law and taking follow-up actions at the Lodz University of Technology.
The best candidates will be invited for a 20-minute job interview that will be organized on the Microsoft Teams/Zoom platform.
The evaluation process will be carried out in two stages. The first stage is based on the analysis of the submitted documents. The second stage is an interview with the selected candidates. Successful candidates will be notified only by email of their progress to the second stage.
If the successful candidate does not accept the position, it will be offered to the next person on the recruitment list. The condition for the validity of the competition results is the Rector's approval.
