Aleksander Skóra, a student of the Lodz University of Technology Secondary School, won a silver medal at the 34th International Biological Olympiad, held in the United Arab Emirates. During the closing ceremony, he stepped onto the podium, holding the Polish flag, feeling quite pleased with the tremendous success he had achieved. He is, after all, among the best young biologists in the world.

Dr inż. Ernest Stano of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems, Lodz University of Technology has been recognized with a scholarship for excellent young researchers awarded by the Minister of Education and Science.

The laureate graduated from the Faculty of Electric, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering. He defended his doctoral dissertation with honors last year, just four years of his graduation. The 29-year-old researcher's track record is quite impressive. He has authored and co-authored 24 publications, six patents, and has carried out three research grants.

A group of researchers in the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science, including dr inż. Joanna Grzelczyk, dr inż. Gałązka-Czarnecka, and dr inż. Joanna Oracz, have been working edible packaging and dishware. The technology they have been developing takes advantage of vegetative waste. Their innovative project called Mixture for the production of disposable biodegradable packaging and tableware, especially for use in the food industry, and a method of their production took second place in the competition "Eureka! DGP - discovering Polish inventions".
