Lodz University of Technology received a grant funded by the Office of the Marshal of Łódzkie Voivodeship under the Łódzkie restores its historical heritage 2024 [Łódzkie ratuje zabytki 2024] call for proposals to preserve, restoration or construction work on structures listed in the register of cultural property of Łódzkie Voivodeship.

Several universities, Lodz University of Technology among them, are joining an elite group of universities training future specialists in IT cybersecurity and telecommunications. Akademia_CYBER.MIL is a project run by the Ministry of Defense scheduled to launch in the 2024/25 academic year.

Amidst the scenic beauty of Faro, Portugal, a remarkable event unfolded from July 9 to 13, part of the EQUNI project. This unique summer school brought together students, academics, and administrative staff from Lodz University of Technology, the University of Groningen, and the University of Algarve. Over several days, participants engaged in intensive training aimed at developing emotional intelligence and addressing discrimination within academic environments.

A breakthrough in European healthcare systems appears ever closer because of virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) applications. The European Union, through its Interregional Investment in Innovation instrument granted more than €5.8 million from the prestigious Horizon Europe program on the project called VR Health Champions. Lodz University of Technology  is one of the 17 project partners who include universities and EIT Health companies from Portugal, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Hungary and Belgium.

A team of researchers from the Voxel Research Lab of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems, TUL, led by dr inż. Grzegorz Zwoliński, has embarked on a groundbreaking adventure called VRChem (Innovative Integration of Virtual Reality in Chemical Engineering Education). The Ersamus + funded project aims to incorporate virtual reality (VR) technology into university-level chemistry teaching and learning.

In early July 2024, dr hab. inż. Katarzyna Znajdek, TUL prof., leader of the Thin Film Photovoltaics research group in the Department of Semiconductor and Optoelectronic Devices, returned from a fascinating month-long fellowship in Mexico. She conducted her research at El Instituto de Energías Renovables, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IER-UNAM) in Temixco, Morelos.

How to cultivate future leaders' environmentally responsible mindset? How to develop students' green and digital skills, bolster their innovation and entrepreneurship competence, and promote social responsibility of universities? How to incorporate virtual reality (VR) technology into university-level chemistry teaching and learning?  Groups from Lodz University of Technology will work on these issues within European consortia, searching for green solutions also for children's universities.

Lodz University of Technology (Children's University of TUL) has established cooperation as a partner in the CU Green! project undertaken in the framework of the Mobility of Youth Workers Erasmus+ program.

Maciej Szulczewski, a Mechanical Engineering student in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering/IFE, was nominated for membership in the Student Council to the President of the Polish Space Agency. The nomination was presented by the President of the Polish Space Agency, prof. Grzegorz Wrochna.

The dissertation by Kacper Królewiak, submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the degree of inżynier, won 2nd prize in the National Competition Engineer 4 Science 2024 for the best dissertation on AI 4 Science.
