Research achievements
Dr Eng. Ernest Stano from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering at Lodz University of Technology is a specialist in electrical metrology, power quality, and electromagnetic compatibility. His research activity focuses on developing modern methods for evaluating the wideband accuracy of current and voltage transformers under conditions of higher harmonic distortion. His innovative analytical methods and measurement systems, supported by six patents, actively contribute to the development of global power metrology and standardisation work conducted by international bodies such as IEC and CENELEC.
Research profile and interests
The research work of Dr Eng. Ernest Stano has evolved around the challenges associated with measurement reliability in modern power systems. A key achievement for the researcher between 2020 and 2025 was the development of an analytical method for determining current error and phase displacement in inductive current transformers during the transformation of distorted currents.
Currently, the scientist is expanding his research to include the vibroacoustic analysis of power and distribution transformers, examining the relationship between their operating conditions and their response to loads resulting from the increasing share of renewable energy sources and the development of HVDC technology.
Industrial cooperation, implementations, and expert activity
A significant pillar of Dr Eng. Ernest Stano’s activity is technology transfer to the economic sector, carried out, among others, through industrial EMC testing and the co-creation of patented solutions.
The researcher coordinates the cooperation between Lodz University of Technology and the companies Prodel R&D and SOCHOR, supporting research and development processes as well as the practical education of students.
His international recognition is evidenced by his active participation in the technical committees of the IEC and CENELEC (TC 38), and his expert activity includes providing substantive support to institutions such as the NCBR, PARP, and the Łukasiewicz Centre.
For his scientific and implementation achievements, he was awarded a Ministry of Education and Science Scholarship for outstanding young scientists.
