priority research area: (Re)EnergyTech
Research achievements
Dr Eng. Jakub Walczak from the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics at Lodz University of Technology is a specialist in the field of artificial intelligence and its practical applications in climate data analysis. His scientific activity focuses on combining advanced machine learning methods with the challenges of the modern world, which is reflected in publications concerning, among others, HVAC energy load modelling and climate data processing.
By leading a project under the LIDER XI programme and through publications in prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Dr Eng. J. Walczak is effectively building his position as an expert whose work has a real and beneficial impact on the environment and the development of intelligent energy technologies.
Research profile and interests
Dr Walczak’s research has evolved from image processing and point cloud analysis towards cognitive science and advanced climate data modelling. Currently, the scientist focuses his efforts on studying the perception of artificial intelligence through the prism of natural intelligence and using machine learning methods to precisely locate climate-relevant regions.
His research approach is characterised by a drive to create solutions that not only set new standards in process automation (e.g., through tools such as Climatrix or Kit4DL) but, above all, serve to support global climate strategies.
International cooperation and expert activity
A significant pillar of Dr Eng. Jakub Walczak’s activity is cooperation with renowned research and business centres, including the Italian CMCC Foundation and the Spanish company OpenNebula Systems.
The international character of his research is confirmed by scientific internships and mobility under the PROM programme.
Dr Eng. J. Walczak is actively involved in the development of the scientific community as a member of the ITiT Discipline Council and a reviewer for prestigious journals.
His work represents a successful combination of the theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence with the needs of contemporary environmental challenges.
